Her journey with Eyewitness News began in 2014. At the time of her hire, the ABC 7 News Director lauded her as “an experienced and knowledgeable meteorologist who thrives on the complexities of Chicago’s volatile weather.”

Scott initially joined the ABC 7 team in September 2011, where she handled weather forecasting duties on both morning and weekend broadcasts.

Before her tenure at ABC, she had accumulated a wealth of experience across several prominent TV networks. She worked as a weekend meteorologist at WBIR-TV, the NBC affiliate in Knoxville, Tennessee. Notably, her time at WBIR-TV included live coverage of devastating tornadoes that struck Knoxville in April 2011.

Earlier in her career, in 2007, she served as the weekend weathercaster at WSEE-TV in Erie, Pennsylvania. During this period, she also provided weather forecasts for a 24-hour Caribbean Weather Channel.

Throughout her illustrious career, Scott hasn’t only earned recognition but also achieved financial success, amassing a considerable salary and net worth.

Her Annual Salary Is More Than $100k

According to estimates from various online sources, TV meteorologists in Chicago, IL, earn salaries ranging from $109,339 to $400,199, with an average of $196,862. Given Scott’s extensive experience and dedication, her salary likely falls within or exceeds this average range.

Is Scott Going To GMA?

On July 11, 2015, ABC7’s Scott took on the weather duties for the weekend on ‘Good Morning America’ (GMA), stepping in for Rob Marciano. Initially, she received a warm welcome from the GMA crew, including Paula Faris, with whom she had previously worked.

Later on, some GMA viewers expressed a desire to see Marciano return, showing mixed reactions to her weather segment. Dressed in a light pink dress, Cheryl, then 34, previewed the weather on an Instagram story, noting, “Monsoon season in full effect. Flash flooding’s going to be a big concern. Wildfires as well continuing.” She also promised beautiful weather for the north and east and teased a science experiment for the morning.

Where Did She Go to College?

Cheryl attended Paul VI High School in Haddonfield, New Jersey, before enrolling at Brown University, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Geological Sciences in 2007. As a standout track and field athlete at Brown, she achieved notable success. In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Scott said:

I was a quick one. It led to great things and good opportunities, and I was recruited to run track at Brown University out of Paul VI high school.

She added details about her team’s achievements:

We were competitive and we worked really hard, year-round. To this day, we still hold some records on the all-top-10 record board at Brown University, including the (indoor) 4 x 400 relay, the (outdoor) 4 x 100, and I have a top 10 in the (indoor) long jump.

Cheryl later received her Meteorology Certification in 2010 from Mississippi State University.
