Since we last interviewed Donald Glover/Childish Gambino back in the Fall, his popularity has picked up immensely in the music world. Nowadays, instead of his music being picked up by select blogs, like HHU or our good friend Modi of DCtoBC, any new leak is instantaneously spread across the net and received with positive praise. Currently on his IAMDONALD tour, he provides a mix of comedy and music to his fans who have collectively sold out all of his national show dates.
HHU contributor Taylor caught up with Glover in Hollywood after his show at The Music Box to discuss a number of things. The actor/MC talks about the perception that he didn’t take music seriously, his immediate obsession with Odd Future and how he first discovered up-and-coming artist The Weeknd.
Additionally, Glover talks life on the tour bus and shares the big news that he’s working on a full-fledged LP right now. Watch to see what he says about the release date of the LP and what he thinks of potentially signing with a record label.
