…between 90k to 95k units first week. I honestly think that’s a respectable number for not really having a major hit song – “My Last” was a mild success. I feel like those sales will keep up once he officially drops his single “Marvin Gaye and Chardonnay” with Kanye West. Funny how these things work. His buddy Mike Posner has two platinum-selling singles and he sold 29k his first week.

The 100K mark should be the new platinum in music sales really.

But… Considering there hasn’t really been any true hip hop released for the mainstream markets (and not counting the indie, web and underground hip hop artists), which means not that much competition and of course right before Summer is the best release hole for any artist. Being part of the G.O.O.D. Music movement, a midwest artist, having good management (I believe Kevin Liles is now managing Sean, Blue Williams was managing him – anyone please correct me if I’m wrong) and really riding the hype wave with a solid record definitely is not hurting Big Sean with his sales. And with this first-week sales prediction, Big Sean is in the pocket with Cudi and B.O.B and their 1st week sales, which not a bad place to be. Way to go!
