The ninth edition of The Fader‘s HTC series of tracks presents New Jersey producer Clams Casino remixing Mississippi’s Big K.R.I.T.. Check out Clams’ crisp, brassy remix of K.R.I.T.’s late-summer anthem featuring Devin the Dude “Moon & Stars” below:

Says Fader:

“Big KRIT hails from Mississippi, a locale he says informs all new music he makes as he travels America. We met the man in New York, where he performed at the grand finale uncapped LIVE show. Even as Big KRIT aspires to bigger projects across genres, the rapper/producer asserts, “It’s still gone be country, still gone be soulful.”

The FADER and HTC have announced the X Squared Remix Project. Created to celebrate the release of the HTC Rezound(TM), the project pairs 10 rappers with 10 producers for 10 original tracks. The first collaboration is Danny Brown’s “Die Like a Rockstar” remixed by DJ Nick Catchdubs.

Promised a bunch of people I would update my CMJ coverage on Sunday but I haven’t gotten to it yet (I have to leave my place for the night right now). Updates coming tomorrow with recaps of a couple of set I attended.

The Fader:

If you want a laugh, pull up the music video for Drake’s “Replacement Girl.” It’s 2007. The Toronto rapper is wearing a leather baseball cap, backwards, with enormous designer sunglasses and his necktie above the belly button—not unlike how Fred Flintstone does his. He double-time raps in front of a crudely drawn world map while women of various tint and confusion dance close by; at the video’s climax, Drake leans on the hood of an expensive car the director rented for the shoot. It’s not a bad R&B-cum-rap song. And the video went on to play on BET, a first for an unsigned Canadian rapper. But this Drake was, to put it kindly, not the cool, introspective, self-deprecating one we now know.

Last night I was excited because The Fader & Vitamin Water brought their Uncapped series of shows to NYC. A GREAT lineup for a free show: CyHi da Prynce, Catchdubs, Rye Rye, Big K.R.I.T., and Freddie Gibbs. Was it worth the anticipation? Check below for my recap and personal pics:

The Fader catches up with Drake after a show in Brooklyn just to get his thoughts on his current situation. Seems like he’s in a positive place right now. Yo big up to that Fader girl for calling his latest releases “Emo.” She knows that’s what everyone is thinking. Also, Drake confirms The Weeknd is on the album and the single will be out in about two weeks or so.

Pharoahe stops by the offices of Fader to give some insight on his new album, W.A.R.
