Behind The Scenes Of Rhymefest & Kanye West’s “Alligator Boots”
Says FSD:
Some of you may recall that Rhymefest and Kanye West were working on a show for Comedy Central a while ago, but it never got picked up. Here we have some behind the scenes footage of ’Ye, Rhymefest, Kim Kardashian, Jimmy Kimmel and a host of others as they work on the pilot.
Lil B Talks to CNN, Responds to Rhymefest’s Comments
I don’t even know, man. The world renown CNN took time out of its busy schedule to to sit down with Lil B to talk about a number of things. This is what B had to say about Rhymefest’s initial comments on him:
CNN: You’re big Twitter fan, and recently rapper Rhymefest tweeted that after he spoke to California artist Xzibit and listened to your music, his response was, “Homeboy needed a dad in his life.”
Lil B: I’m going to say, who is Rhymefest? So he needs to work on promoting and marketing himself, because I don’t know him. But what I feel about his comment is that it’s true, I needed a father figure in my life, but I’m not complaining about that. What do you mean, I need that? Tell Rhymefest I’m very happy. Tell Rhymefest I actually wake up and I’m happy, and I’m positive and I love people. Ask Rhymefest, does he feel the same way?

Chicago – Check out Rhymefest and Lupe THIS SAT!
For the first time ever, Rhymefest & Lupe Fiasco are coming together to inspire positive change in Chicago. Hip Hop artists have been used as “tiny weapons of mass destruction,” and it is now time for hip hop artists to take personal responsibility to help improve their communities.
The event will be held in Chicago this Sunday, November 14th, at The Shrine – 2109 S. Wabash at 9:00 p.m.
It is not only a hip-hop performance but there will be three DJs so that we can celebrate this momentous occasion (DJ Tony Sculfield, DJ 33 1/3 and DJ Reddy Rock).
Tickets can be purchased by clicking the flyer on aim20.com or you can go directly to the site here: http://www.actblue.com/page/rhymefest-lupe
All proceeds will help benefit the campaign of Che “Rhymefest” Smith for Alderman (city council) of the 20th ward of Chicago.
Interviews With Producer S1
Music producer S1 heightens his industry profile with some recently spotted interviews on the web – PMP Worldwide, iStandard and performing rights organization ASCAP.
via PMP Worldwide
PMP: How did you get your start in music production?
S1: Well I began producing about 13 years ago. My cousin, Myth and I started a group back in 1995 called Symbolyc Elementz (Source Unsigned Hype, Rap Sheets). It was after then where I began to dive into the Art of Production and learn how to create and arrange sounds. I got tired of us rhyming over other artist/groups’ instrumentals and breaks and wanted to create a sound for ourselves.
PMP: What was the music scene like coming up in Waco Tx?
S1: We really didn’t have a music scene. Well, we had a small scene but it was mainly the down south/gangsta type music around us and we we’re straight hip hop. We wasn’t really accepted however our music did stand out from the rest of the pack.
PMP: Walk us through your creative process from beginning to end.
S1: I don’t have a set process for creating music. I do everything off feeling and inspiration. A typical work week would look like this for me: Day 1-2 – Search and find new samples/drums/ideas and put all files in a single folder. Day 3-4 Start sequencing and arranging new ideas with the new sounds. Day 5 -6 – schedule my musicians(guitar, violins, etc) to add parts and layers to my ideas. Day 7 – finish, mix and finalize all the joints that I worked on for that week.
PMP: Since the release of Kanye’s ‘Power’ single how have things changed as far as brand notoriety and business opportunities?
S1: Things have been Great! Having a single for a Major International Artist like Kanye really exposed my art to the world and presented so many opportunities. I’m Truly blessed to be in this position and just trying my best to take full advantage of where God has placed me.

DJ Babu ft. GLC, Rhymefest – Bionic Jaws

Via Ruby Hornet:
We’re proud to present the latest in our Closed Sessions track featuring none other than DJ Babu of Dilated Peoples and The Beat Junkies. Flipping the script, DJ Babu made the producer the focus of this Closed Session and rather than an emcee going through the Closed Sessions production catalog, it was Babu who paged through our Rolodex of talented Chicago artists for which to collaborate.
DJ Babu centered on up and comer ADaD as well as veterans GLC and Rhymefest. In a marathon session that stretched over 12 hours, two studios, and served as the last Closed Session at the old SoundScape Studios (RIP 2010 S. Wabash), DJ Babu, GLC, and Rhymefest created a soon to be classic, “Bionic Jaws”. With a heavy bass, and biting chorus, “Bionic Jaws” is the ultimate answer to those that just can’t stop running their mouth and also represents the coming together of storied veterans of both the Chicago and L.A. Hip Hop scenes.

Rhymefest Spits a GENUINE Freestyle? Whoa
Nowadays, the word freestyle has basically been cheapened down to if a rapper spits over someone else’s instrumental. It’s just easier to call it “BMF Freestyle” or “A Milli Freestyle.” But at the Red Bull EmSee battle, Fest gets 5 images and goes off the dome, integrating them in to the session.
Rhymefest on Chicago Tonight
Rhymefest is the first and only rapper to ever appear on “Chicago Tonight,” which airs on WTTW Channel 11. He made his second appearance this week, with host Phil Ponce. Rhymefest discusses the importance of personal responsibility, his new album and ended the appearance with two acapella performances of “Letter” and “Exodus 5.1.”
