Juvenile ft. Rick Ross – Power (Prod. Mannie Fresh)

Juvenile teams up with good ol’ Mannie Fresh for a new record off of his upcoming album, Rejuvenation. Kinda nice to hear Juvenile still doing his thing as he brings Rick Ross on board to claim the power. Props to XXL for the debut.

Speaking of Juvenile, I would love to hear his response to Drake’s ‘update’ of “Back that Ass Up” on Take Care via his song “Practice.”

Guaranteed Fresh: Studio Cypher w/ Mannie Fresh, Juvenile, Mystikal

New Orleans! Check out this studio cypher with Mannie Fresh and Juvenile with the beat supplied by the one and only Mannie Fresh. Mystikal still has it, man. I feel like he’s one guy who could actually make a come back if he was put in the right situation.

Curren$y – Light Snacks

Early this morning, Curren$y threw out this new joint on twitter for the fans to take in. Features Curren$y’s signature style over production of the same kind. Just a “Light Snack” until Muscle Car Chronicles drops.  He says of the title:

Light Snacks…. Meaning its chump change… Or its nothing to u…think, the phrase “small thing to a giant”… #lightsnacks … Stay awake

Now give it a listen below:

Curren$y – She Don’t Want A Man (Music Video)

I wouldn’t consider myself a Curren$y fan in that I rush to hear all of his latest material, but I’m a casual fan that gets to it eventually. With that said, I actually really like this Havoc-produced track off of his album, Weekend at Burnie’s.

Curren$y – 3 Wishes

New music from Curren$y produced by Philly’s Sarom. This won’t be included in Curren$y’s upcoming Weekend at Burnie’s album. Thanks hh1978.

Mannie Fresh Talks Working With Mystikal

Tags: MTV Shows

MTV caught up with Mannie Fresh at Bonnaroo to talk about working with fellow New Orleans artist Mystikal. I’m actually surprised we haven’t heard more from Mystikal by now.

Juvenile Shares His Thoughts on the State of New Orleans

And if you have HBO, you’ve gotta be watching the New Orleans drama Treme about life after Katrina. Juvenile actually made an appearance in one of the episodes.

Galactic and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band with Juvenile Perform on HBO’s Treme

I couldn’t find the whole performance anywhere (it’s available on iTunes I guess), but I was pleasantly surprised when Juvenile made an appearance on HBO’s underrated show Treme. Here, Juvenile and Galactic & the Dirty Dozen Brass Band perform “From the Corner to the Block.”

Curren$y – #JetsGo

You didn’t think it would stop with the release of Covert Coup, did you? Curren$y’s back with another track for the fans, produced by Rahki. This is supposedly an official single off of his full-fledged Warner Bros. album, but we’ll see about that. You can support him via iTunes if you wish.

Oh and hey rappers, start branding yourself like Curren$y has. Aside from his successful Jets brand, you’ll see he utilized the hashtag, which I’m seeing more and more of. Not surprisingly, it’s working – and I can tell because I just punched that in to twitter. I’ve also seen the hashtag branding in TV commercials recently.

Murs – Varsity Blues (Music Video)

Here’s the newest music video from one of the most heralded underground artists – MURS. This is produced by Aesop Rock and the video is Directed by Darryl Richardson. I could be wrong, but I believe I know exactly where this was filmed…and this video is eerie as hell:

Curren$y’s “Muscle Car Chronicles” Cover + Tracklist

Here’s the low down on Curren$y’s forthcoming collaborative album/film with singer McKenzie Eddy, Muscle Car Chronicles. Muscle Car Chronicles is due out March 15. The New Orleans native is scheduled to make his debut on Warner on April 20 with Covert Coup, which will be produced by The Alchemist.

Curren$y Signs to Warner Bros. – Smart Move?

Curren$y has signed to Asylum/Warner Bros with intent on releasing his first major label album on…oh…4/20. Well, it’s called Covert Coup and will be released on 4/19, says Warner. That album will be about 10 to 12 tracks and produced entirely by the Alchemist. Interesting. Curren$y also apparently worked out a label deal with Warner for his imprint, Jets International. His cohorts, Fiend and Young Roddy, are on deck.

One has to wonder if this is the best career move for Curren$y, who already has a cult-like following and sells out shows around the country. I’m sure the parameters of the deal were to his best benefit. One would hope.

Mannie Fresh Plays Beats for Mystikal

Mystikal and Mannie Fresh take it to the Porsche to debut some new instrumentals. The reactions from Mystikal are priceless haha as he takes a listen to Mannie’s cooked up crack. I think you’ve gotta certainly respect Mannie Fresh’s legacy in New Orleans hip hop and music on the whole.

Also while I don’t support Mystikal’s past actions which led him to jail, I do firmly believe that he is one rapper that could, potentially, make a decent come back. Between his unique style and his ability to make a single, I feel like he has it in him. One of the major factors holding him back, however, is that he’s behind the times in the social media circle – which is integral nowadays.
