The ILLZ – M.P.A. (My Public Apology) [Music Video]
Synopsis by filmmaker Kristopher Rey-Talley: Round 3:
don’t have a ton to say this time. Beauty of this video is what it become in contrast to what we set out to do. What was supposed to be a simple picnic vid became a sensual and romantic ode to French New Wave Films. I wanted it pretty, so I shot long lensed, and to give it that easy, nice flow, would give them topics to talk about and just let them interact as I shot. It was almost like I was staging a documentary and then capturing it. Of all our collabs, this may be the one I’m most proud of. I figured out how to rig a new lens system (my own secret) to give it a very cinematic feel. There’s something effortless and earnest about the video and that’s what I love. Even the performance shot was nailed in one take and I have no qualms about it, as it looks damn great.
Big up to The ILLZ. He’s been creating some great work recently. Here he slows down the music a bit, but for more, check out his site here.

Freddie Gibbs – National Anthem (F.T.W.) Music Video
Here’s the first single off of Freddie Gibbs’ album. Not your typical mainstream type single, but that’s what I like about Gibbs – he doesn’t try to conform. He just does what he does. Really liking this single, along with the followup single, “Oil Money.”
Gibbs’ album drops on the third of August.
Termanology feat. Ea$y Money – Whats The Answer (music video)
Term & Ea$y Money drop a video for “Whats The Answer,” the itunes bonus track on Terms ‘Time Machine:Hood Politics VI’ Available Now. The track is Produced by Lee Bannon.
Mac Miller – Kool Aid & Frozen Pizza (Music Video)
Rostrum Records’ latest signee Mac Miller returns with the 3rd installment from his video series. This video is entitled “Kool Aid & Frozen Pizza” and will appear on his upcoming mixtape “K.I.D.S.” which drops August 13rd. It was directed by Ian Wolfson of Rex Arrow Films. I really, really like the vibe of this track, but I no longer have tolerance for people who talk about weed in every song.
Los – Never Landing (Music Video)
Los speeds up the flow a little bit to bring us a music video for the song “Never Landing.” I like this track. Let’s see if people start supporting the kid, who was first introduced to the world when he murdered the “A Milli” instrumental.
Chris Hutch – Hustle Hard (Music Video)
Chris Hutch performing “Hustle Hard” for Kingz Men MMG. Directed by Jeremy Nickerson. In My Mind… Films 2010.

The Roots – The Fire (Music Video Trailer)
Nowadays it usually goes:
1) Behind the scenes pics
2) Behind the scenes video
3) Music Video Trailer
4) Music Video
But I’m happy we are seeing some visuals for “The Fire,” which is one of my favorite singles at the moment. Not what I imagined to be, but this looks like sort of an epic vid from Rik Cordero. The Roots do not appear in the final cut. How I Got Over in stores now.
Kano ft. Michelle Breeze – Upside (Music Video)
UK artist Kano releases his latest visuals for “Upside,” featuring singer Michelle Breeze. I really dig the jazzy horn feel to this track. Sounds like something Mark Ronson would produce. This is off of his Method of Maadness album, due out at the end of August.
The ILLZ – Dreams of Life & Beth (Music Video)
Says the Music Video’s director:
“When The ILLZ approached me about the “In Between Video series”, I was struck by the simple brilliance of it all. Releasing video and song simultaneously, as one piece of content, was a bold and strong move. I signed on immediately, and within a few days, we began shooting the first few videos. Simple, often low concept, but brimming with ILLZ insistence on cinematic imagery. With “Dreams of Life & Beth”, I decided to go with a very cold, morbid look. The song is introspective and haunting, and I wanted to convey that through a simplistic set of visuals. Shooting on the Manhattan bridge at 5:30 am, we got that clean ambient light, and complete desertion. Everything was shot on long lenses, creating a sense of deep space and complete loneliness. The video is a mood piece, low on concept but high on artistry and emotion. It is but the first chapter in a varied, complex and beautiful set of upcoming videos, one unlike that of any artist I’ve worked with thus far.”
Dre-Ski – Why We Hustle (music video)
I’m not familiar with Dre-Ski’s previous work, but this is a nice track right here. “Why We Hustle” will appear on Dre-Ski’s upcoming album Cloud 8.7 (due out in September) and has been featured on the Top-5 Countdown of DJs Infamous and Cannon’s Sirius radio program “Infamy Radio.” Thanks to illvibes.
N.A.S.A. ft. ODB, Karen O, Fatlip – Strange Enough (Music Video)
Kind of surprised N.A.S.A. is still releasing work for their album that dropped a while back, but they are and here is a new video. Fatlip of the Pharcyde and ODB are included in this song, interestingly enough.
