Freddie Gibbs Talks Makeup, Living in LA, the Music Industry
Have you ever worn makeup? For a show, or a shoot?
[Laughs.] Nope, I’ve never worn makeup.
Not even stage makeup? Come on, we all have our secrets.
Archie (Freddie’s co-manager and DJ): Actually, we had a photo shoot where the makeup artist was like (mimics examining a face) ‘Yeah, I can’t do anything.’ His skin was just immaculate, they didn’t need to do anything.

LA Light – Time Lapse Video
I’ve posted a couple of NYC time lapse videos in the past, but I can’t forget the bright lights of LA as well. I don’t know, exactly, what makes these videos so appealing, but I think they’re pretty cool.
Says creator Colin Rich:
I sought out to capture the electric radiance of Los Angeles at night. It took me 6 months of on and off shooting to finish this project and I’ve learned a couple things along the way.
First off, LA might be the entertainment capital of the world, but it sure is difficult to shoot around downtown without having homeland security officers, police, or security take notice and harass you. Know your shooting rights! Shooting time lapses is a labor of love and a study in patience.
This video is dedicated to my Grandmother, Mary Johnson.

Game – Hustlin (Champions Anthem)
Game lets loose this new track celebrating the hustle and Lakers championship win last night. I’m gonna assume this was done beforehand, but this is a pretty tough song IMO. The instrumental on this is sick.
Game – Hustlin (Champions Anthem)
P.S. What a GREAT game. I don’t like either team but I’m a fan of quality games like that.
Game – Slangin Game (prod. Scoop DeVille)
Here’s a world premiere of another track to be included on Game’s mixtape, The Red Room. The Red Room is scheduled to drop on Monday, via DJ Skee, and will feature a good amount of material to hold you over until the RED Album drops. This is produced by Scoop Deville.

DUBCNN Intv’s Far East Movement
I’ve been pretty interested in what these guys have been doin for a minute now. They definitely have a following, but I still have yet to fully get the vibe of their music. I definitely respect them for being immediately influence by Pharcyde. Anyone in LA in to the Far East Movement? Recommendations of songs?

Following up last year’s successful collaboration with popular Hip-Hop duo U-N-I, Hella Tight produces a second run of the classic snap-back “Land of The Kings’ cap. This time around they focus on a certain LA-style throwback look with a black and white colorway, paying tribute to the Kings of the 90s. The cap features a lightweight cotton upper with white details and a satin undervisor. It is now available through the brand’s online store and in-store at Fitted Hawaii. Via
Dom Kennedy – From the Westside With Love
Dom Kennedy isn’t necessarily the Kanye West-esque superstar, but I think for some people like Dom, it’s more about the respect and personal connections with fans. It’s about getting his music and his message out and by doing so, gaining the respect he deserves in this industry.
With that said, I believe he has a very loyal following already and it will only continue to grow as we roll through 2010. He just makes good music and his passion shines through – as seen by fans at SXSW. I saw A LOT of people talking about how Dom tore it up. I’m gonna go ahead and say watch for Dom to potentially be involved in the XXL 2011 Freshman cover, if he chooses to get involved.
Knowing that, I encourage y’all to hit the link below and then download his newest mixtape, From the Westside With Love. #NT What UP??!?:
