Big Boi is currently out in LA and last night he hit the lab to record Mr. Kid Cudi. No specifics on where this collaboration may land, but hopefully we’ll get some news on Big Boi’s upcoming album soon.

Yes, yes. Kid Cudi turned to his trusty twitter account to let his followers know that there may be some old, unreleased Cudi that will magically pop up in the near future. Here’s what he had to say:

you aint heard nothing yet. Ahh shit, found my old lap top with a gang of unfinished songs from MOTM1 and MOTM2. And so it begins…YES! just found this beat Dan Black gave me during the 1st album. Kid Cudi Writing Theme Song and/or Acting in “Ninja Turtles” Reboot?

If you haven’t heard by now, Michael Bay will be re-imagining the Ninja Turtles story for the big screen reboot. Oh, and they’re from space this time around. Interestingly enough, it looks like Kid Cudi has already been tapped to somehow be involved with the film. No confirmation on if it will be musically or acting, but here’s what he had to say via his tumblr:

An original one of a kind sketch of a unknown Ninja Turtle by one half of the creators, Kevin Eastman. A gift given to me by my homies Andrew Form and Brad Fuller over at Platinum Dunes. Hint hint mane.

He also tweeted:

To everyone with doubts & concerns about the new TMNT reboot, trust me, there is NOTHING to worry about. Trust. Everyone will be pleased! I was skeptical as well, but by no means is this movie gonna suck. Huge fans will be happy.

WZRD Performs “Teleport 2 Me, Jamie” on Conan

WZRD stopped by Conan last night to perform their self-titled album single – “Teleport 2 Me, Jamie.” On a related note, congrats to Cudi and Dot for earning sales of about 70k. That says a lot about his fans, given that there was little to no promotion for the album.

Industry Insiders Confirm Kid Cudi’s WZRD Shipment Figure, Comment on Sales

After going on a bit of rant yesterday via twitter, Kid Cudi slandered his label for only shipping out about 55k copies of his collaborative WZRD album with Dot da Genius. Now, an industry source confirmed the 55k number:

He is accurate that Universal shipped about 55,000 units, but this album is not in the vein of his prior releases

Second, Trans World Music urban buyer Christina Amadore-Smith says the album will sell about 55k total – split between digital and physical sales. She says of the release:

I think the sales projection is a pretty decent number for him putting out a random rock album. I thought it would overperform and he will blow past our first week projections.

Kid Cudi Goes on a ‘Kanye Rant’ Against Universal Republic; Claims Undershipped Album, “Man on the Moon III” in 2014

Well, Mr. Rager has taken it upon himself to address some things via twitter (what else). First, he thanked the fans and denounced the people that dislike him on the day of his WZRD release:

I just wanna say Thank You from the bottom of my heart to everyone who is supporting WZRD. Words cant express how i feel right now. I mean like seriously who has better fans than me???? So fucking open minded and smart. Just like me. Making jams for kids like me! Its like i see some haters but like, do they not have iTunes??? I’m on fire you ol jive ass niggaz…watch me shineeeeeeeeeeeeee haha. When people say i should get back on drugs, its sad. Really sad. Oh well. The Evil. When someone goes out their way to tweet you some hate, they love your cock. In or around their mouth. My mushroom tip, full on. haha. Man im so happy today! Nothing can steal my joy right now.

And he goes on to say he’s the victim of having an under-shipped album:

Ok so just a heads up, my weak ass label only shipped 55k physicals cuz they treated this like some indie side project tax right off. So i apologize on behalf of my weak ass major label. And I apologize for the lack of promo, again, my weak ass major label. So its def gonna be tough to find one in the stores guys, I’m sorry about that. I gotta go out and find one too, becuz my weak ass label never even gave us a copy of our own album. FAIL!!! Im lettin Universal Republic have it, fuck it. What they gon’ do, spank me?? hahahaha. AND Teleport 2 Me, Jamie aint on the radio!!!! like helloooooooooo????? HIT HIT HIT!!!

So he is punishing the label by making them wait until 2014 for Man on the Moon III:

They tried to rush me thru this so i can just give em another MOTM, but guess what? Fuck that, next album is WZRD. MOTM3 on hold til 2014.

I obviously don’t know the behind the scenes deal on this album, but it does actually seem like they were trying to get it out there and just break even with a measly 55k units shipped (allegedly). No album push, no real single push. It’s a strange release, especially considering Cudi’s nice track record. They obviously didn’t have confidence in him with this release…
