Reminder! This Tour Will Be Sick!
Fresh off of their West Coast Opposite of Adults tour Chiddy Bang is taking cues from Wale’s motto #nodaysoff and hitting up the East Coast with The Swelly Life Tour.
Featuring Donnis, XV, 2am Club and DJ sets by DJ Benzi, the tour kicks off on August 4th in Pittsburgh, PA and ends on September 2nd in none other than Philly, PA.
I’ve posted two Chiddy Bang show reviews (read them here) and they’ve been stellar both times I’ve seen them live. Crazy energy. Ticket info after the jump:
M.I.A. Unofficially Announces Free NYC Show
Over the weekend, M.I.A. had a show at HARD Fest here in NYC, which, apparently, wound up sucking horribly. A mix of rain and a terrible performance pretty much killed the show. Well, she tweeted that she would be throwing a free show to make up for the performance:
fuck it! im gonna do a free show in nyc when i get back, tho i dont have powers over rain! if u still have the hard ticket u free! if u do me a lil dance , ill let u in too! xxxo
If interested, I would stay tuned, because I’m sure if it actually goes down, there will be free tickets given out to a lot more people than just those who have HARD Fest stubs.
Maryland’s Virgin Mobile Festival Lineup Announced – T.I., Luda, M.I.A., LCD Soundsystem Headline
On Saturday, September 25th, the Virgin Mobile FreeFest returns, this time with a lineup that crosses indie, hip-hop, and dance boundaries. The much controversial M.I.A., NYC alt-dance outfit LCD Soundsystem, and recently reunited indie legends Pavement will headline this year’s festivities.
Also on the 2010 bill are the recently freed T.I., Ludacris, Joan Jett, Thievery Corporation, Jimmy Eat World, Yeasayer, The Temper Trap, Matt & Kim, and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes.
In addition to two main stages, this year’s festival will also feature a “dance forest,” which will feature the talents of Chromeo, Sleigh Bells, Die Antwoord, Modeselektor, and Neon Indian. What’s more, New Orleans based Trombone Shorty will lead a special second line march from stage to stage.
Free tickets to the free festival will be available starting Saturday, July 24th at 10 AM EST via Ticketfly.com. Virgin Mobile customers and previous Virgin Mobile Festival ticket holders from the past four years will be invited via text and email to a private “free-sale” (much like a pre-sale, except free) to be held Friday, July 23rd.
Ticketfly is waiving all service charges when fans pick up their FreeFest tickets at Merriweather or the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. or print the tickets at home. Customers also have the option to have their tickets delivered by mail for a nominal fee.
FLORIDA – Check out Rick Ross TONIGHT!
I really have no idea where Pembroke Pines is in Florida, but Rick Ross will be in the house at Best Buy for 3 HOURS (props for such a long meet and greet) to sign your album, take pictures and eat your children. He’ll be there from 5-8pm. For the big boys and girls, he’ll be celebrating his album release at King of Diamonds in Miami.
21+? Check out the XXL X Remy Martin Tour

The tour starts next Tuesday on the 27th in Miami and the events are 21+.
Like I said, it looks like all you have to do is hit the RSVP button for your respective tour stop and just fill in your info. Other than that, I’m not positive if there’s anything else you have to do. Seems easy enough though, right? Click below to check it out:

HHU Event (NYC): Chip tha Ripper @ Santos Next Friday (7/23)
CRUCIAL! At HHU, I pride myself in promoting up & coming talent – especially before the general public catches on. If you’ve been with the site for a few years throughout all the URL changes and things that have went down, you already know how we do here.
Chip tha Ripper is one of those artists that caught my attention a little while back, with the witty word play and ear for great beats. Since then, HHU has supported whenever possible and I thank Chip’s camp at SLAB UP for recognizing that. He’s touring the country with Kid Cudi, will be on the Moon Man’s upcoming album, collaborating with some of the best up & comers, but his crew still recognizes us. That’s real right there.
With that said, HHU is one of the promoters for Chip tha Ripper’s stop in NYC next Friday, as he prepares for his first solo gig ever in the big city that I call home. Aside from chip, up & comer Nero will open up the show and music will be provided by the great Terry Urban, Dot da Genius (Cudi’s resident producer/DJ) and Double-O of Kidz in the Hall. All I can say is, don’t be surprised if some MAJOR guests stop by to support Chip on stage………………….
Who: Chip tha Ripper, Nero, Double-O (Kidz in the Hall), Terry Urban, Dot da Genius
What: Chip tha Ripper’s first solo NYC show
Where: Santos Party House
96 Lafayette Street
New York, NY 10013
(212) 584-5492
When: Friday, July 23rd (7/23). Doors open all night from 6pm on, but Chip hits the stage at 11pm.
Admission: Tickets below, 18 to get in, 21 to drink

Gross Tour Money Down $197 Mil From Last Year
Hey Live Nation, why don’t you make ticket prices and fees a little more accessible to the masses so they would have to stop canceling tours because no one can afford to buy tickets for them. Via Pollstar:
Our Top 100 Tours for the first six months have a combined gross of $965.5 million, down $196.8 million, or 17 percent, from the same period one year ago. If you want to find a lower number you’ll have to go back to 2005 when the mid-year gross volume was $730.9 million.
Any other reasons you think tour $$ is down? What can ticket brokers and other means of touring do to help boost revenue for the second part of 2010?
