Aleon Craft & George Clinton – Mothership: The Decatur Connection (Mixtape)
Mothership: The Decatur Connection is a collaborative project between funk legend, George Clinton, and hip-hop artist, Aleon Craft. This is the first time George Clinton (of Parliament Funkadelic) has linked up with a hip-hop artist for a complete, new project. George Clinton recorded to 3 new records for the project, however, Mothership: The Decatur Connection consists of elements from… Aleon Craft’s Mothership Decatur (2011 Mixtape), the Parliament-Funkedelic catalog and original recordings from both Aleon Craft and George Clinton.
Aleon Craft & George Clinton – Make It Out
Says SMKA of this exciting project:
This is the first time George Clinton (of Parliament Funkadelic) has linked up with a hip-hop artist for a complete, new project. George Clinton recorded to 3 new records for the project, however Mothership: The Decatur Connection consists of elements from… Aleon Craft’s Mothership Decatur (mixtape), the Parliament-Funkedelic catalog and original recordings from both Aleon Craft and George Clinton.
Mothership: The Decatur Connection also helps tell the often overlooked story and impact of George Clinton on hip-hop. Parliment-Funkadelic has been sampled over 1000 times, and are used in some of hip-hop’s most popular songs. Clinton, and many other funk artists, have been the victim of copyright (sample) trolls and questionable legal representatives. He is currently engaged in major court cases that could critically impact the future of copyright laws for the entire music industry, as well as motion pictures and related media. We wish him, and funk music the best, and hope this project can help shed light on these issues.
I’m actually very excited to hear the project in full. The collaboration will be released on December 20th. Check out the first song from the album:

Aleon Craft ft. Grip Plyaz & Tuki (of Hollyweerd) – My Girlfriend (Prod. SMKA)

Says SMKA of the track:
“Seeing as how 4/20 has become one of the biggest holidays in hip-hop, we figured it would only be appropriate to drop “My Girlfriend,” as the final leak from The 808 Experiment: Vol 3… which is now less than a week away.”
This and a gang of other GREAT tracks will be released on the mixtape, dropping on the 26th.

ATL Stargazing Tour Week One Recap
HHU is helping to sponsor a GREAT tour that’s going down in Atlanta from last week all the way through September. I encourage y’all to check it out if you live in the ATL area because each week is a new set of quality artists.
The first stop of the Atlanta Stargazing Tour was amazing! 300+ people packed into the East Side Lounge to catch Aleon Craft, FKi, Niko Villamor, Richelle L. Brown & Alien Warr take off. The energy in the room was enormous all night long and erupted during Alien Warr’s 45 minute drum performance w/ DJ Dibiase to close out the show. DJ Dibiase turned the show into a party after the performers left the stage. The venue reached capacity at 12am while a crowd began forming outside. East Side Lounge was the first of 6 stops on the Atlanta Stargazing Tour, and it’s only going to get bigger. The next show on the Atlanta Stargazing Tour is at Midtown Tavern on July 17th with performances from: Weapons of Audio, Aleon Craft & The Space Cadets, Smitty & The Spare Change, theDOLLDAZE, Alexandrea Lushington & Alien WARR!
East Side Lounge: Aleon Craft & The Space Cadets (Craft’s band) performed songs from his upcoming project titled, Aleon Craft: The Stargazing Soundtrack hosted by Mick Boogie & Terry Urban. He started his set with the intro, off the project, and first leak “Stargazing,” and ended with the always crowd pleasing, “Donkey Kong.” Aleon Craft: The Stargazing Soundtrack will be out in early August.
