J.Cole Projected to Go #1 Next Week With “Cole World”

September 29, 2011 by JD in Release

***EDIT: Watch for J. Cole to debut atop the Billboard 200 next week with his first album “Cole World: the Sideline Story,” which could move as many as 240,000 to 250,000 copies by week’s end on Oct. 2, so say industry prognosticators. Via Billboard

HDD, who is known for making fairly accurate sales projections based on first day sales, is saying J.Cole is on track to go #1 next week with his debut album, Cole World. While they didn’t publish any sales figure estimates quite yet, they say his sales are “exploding out of the box.”

I like J. Cole, but how in the hell is he going to sell that many copies first week!? Does he even have an album single on the radio right now? I’ve listened to the entire album and i was a little bit disappointed. It’s not bad, but I was expecting more. Also, the majority of the songs on the album have been previously released anyway. I guess this is good news though, I really hope Wale can do similar first week numbers!

I mean it’s not a random guess…it’s mathematically figured based on first day sales. I don’t listen to the radio but have heard “Work Out” and “Can’t Get Enough” are getting spins. “Mr. Nicewatch” with Jay-Z gives him a good look. He has an extremely dedicated fan base.

As far as the album…it’s all opinion, but I’d say you’re in the minority being disappointed just based on everything I’ve collectively read.
