Not that smart to release a mixtape with the same name as your album (I say that because I still feel like people are confused on if his August 3rd release is an album or a mixtape), which is due out in like 5 or 6 days – but I guess Gibbs wanted to get this mixtape out to help build anticipation for his Str8 Killa, No Filla album.

This is a very strange project. This guy, My Sick Uncle, made this mashup project with Lil Wayne’s vocals over the soundtrack to the movie, 500 Days of Summer. The creator took some of the song instrumentals, created beats, and then added interview snips to vocals to complete the transformation in to 500 Days of Weezy. Very strange, but some of them really work. You can preview here and download below:

The Sole Music EP includes 5 new songs plus the O.G. version of “Sole Music” from STS’ Demand More 2 mixtape. Rubix Cube Yellow Edition features 16 fresh new tracks by the New Jersey buzzmaker, including Booth-premiered leak “Resume & Name.” Guest appearances on the project come courtesy of Curren$y, Millie Squire, NASA, Dash and AllStar. Dnt know if u saw yet but Team Invasion compiled all the shit I’ve done with/for/including Hov for the last few years and calling it Creative Control.. A name I came up with for a series where I’m just working with acapellas and have full Creative Control (nothing at all to do with Dame Dash’s company of the same name)

GQ – Blended 2 (Mixtape)

GQ is back. In March, the Oakland Tech Bulldog and UNC alum known by most for his skills on the basketball court dropped his first mixtapeBlended, and showed us why he got the 9th Wonder co-sign. With Blended 2 he’s out to prove that one: this rapping thing is not a hobby and two: no matter what the game, he’s out to win.

Shouts to 38thnotes for the write up and link. HHU’ers, you’ll wanna get hip early so you won’t be on that late bandwagon. Just saying.

38thNotes Presents: The Bay Abridged: June Edition (Mixtape)

The Bay Abridged is a new monthly mixtape presented by 38thNotes that will bring you our favorite slaps from each month. Some of the songs on the tape have been previously posted on the site, others have not, but either way, each month will bring you am eclectic taste of Bay Area hip-hop and R&B. We can only hope that the national blogs will man up and post this, rather than continuing to ignore us and/or rely on dated hyphy stereotypes.

Aside from that fact that this handsome young fella named Clif Soulo is on the mixtape, this is something i think ya’ll might want to get hip to. I’ve been championing the Bay’s music for a while now. Here is a project that should speak for itself….but i decided to add my two cents. Download and enjoy.
