The Wait is Almost Over: Maloof Money Cup Comes to NYC June 5-6
Event Schedule Released: Volcom Street Pro, World Industries Am Competition, Tech Deck Best Trick Contest and 50,000 sq. ft Festival Village

Irvine, Calif. – May 28, 2010 The first-ever Maloof Money Cup New York presented by Vans and airing live on FUEL TV, is almost here. Next weekend, June 5-6, the biggest names in street skateboarding will descend on Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, to compete in the worlds greatest skateboarding event for $250,000 in cash and prizes. In addition to the Volcom Street Pro and the World Industries Amateur Championship, the worlds top pro skaters will also compete in the Tech Deck Best Trick contest for their shot at a $10,000 cash prize.

Skateboarding fans will also have access to the 50,000 square-foot Festival Village featuring top local and nationally acclaimed musicians, autograph signings with pro-skaters, merchandise and food vendors, and skateboarding activities for all ages.

Tickets for the MMC NY contest are free, but they are going fast, with only a few more giveaway opportunities for fans. Go to maloofmoneycup.com for the schedule of upcoming giveaways. While tickets are necessary to get into the skate competition, the Festival Village is free and no ticket is required for entry.

This is truly a special event; we realized this when we held our first ticket giveaway and kids lined up around the block, camped overnight and waited more than 15 hours in the rain, said MMC Creator Joe Maloof. There is a real excitement in the air. Im certain a big part of that is because word has spread that the street course were building for the contest is being donated to the City of NY as a permanent new skatepark for the community. Were so grateful to Vans and to the NYC Parks & Recreation Department for making the donation of the skatepark possible. Its going to be a tremendous contest and I hope to see everyone out in Flushing Meadows next weekend.

FUSE presents a Tupac Takeover all-day on Monday, April 12th beginning at 11AM/10C. The Tupac Takeover will feature a myriad of programming highlighting the life and music of rap legend Tupac Shakur, as well as a feature presentation of the classic cultural film “Juice.” Included in the Tupac Takeover will be the “The 2Pac Chronicles” and “Loaded: 2Pac,” both highlighting Tupac’s classic music video releases and exposing the riveting back story to each.

Viewers will be able to dig into the psyche of the icon with “Tupac Vs.” which paints a in depth portrait of Tupac’s life featuring never-before-seen interviews including an exclusive insight from his former manager, rare footage and on-screen commentaries by biographer Michael Eric Dyson. Also included will be the cutting documentary “Tupac Shakur: Before I Wake,” an intensive documentary that highlights and chronicles the last year of Tupac’s life. Binding the many facets of Tupac’s artistic depth, the Takeover will also air “Juice,” the classic 90’s movie highlighting the lives of 4 inner-city teens that get caught up in the pursuit of “power and happiness” in which Tupac had a starring role.

The event will go down at the American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan, which is actually a sick venue. I’ve been to two music & social networking events there and they’ve been great times. Drinks will be provided, as it’s, unfortunately (for some), a 21+ event (and you’ll need id). $40 dollar value for free.
