ASAP Rocky Feature in Interview Magazine
Via Interview:
A$AP Rocky’s ferociously energetic mix tape Live.Love.A$AP quickly caught fire with hip-hop heads, music bloggers, and nominal tastemakers when he unleashed it on the world via the Internet last fall. In fact, the furor was so great that large numbers of those most standoffish of record-industry gatekeepers—A&R people—soon found themselves frothed up and in a tizzy over the 23-year-old Harlem-bred rapper’s peculiar blend of influences, which include Southern regional hip-hop styles (like the slowed-down, doped-out beats of the Houston subgenre of screw music) and the world of high fashion (who was the last rapper to name-check Rick Owens?).
Iggy Azalea Signs to Interscope
Australian rapper Iggy Azalea logged on to twitter just now to tell the people that she has joined the fine folks at Interscope to drop her album, The New Classic, this June (tentatively, of course). Red Cafe – Shakedown House Party (Music Video)
Looks like Red Cafe took the party overseas for a visual to his “Shakedown House Party” freestyle. Females at the beginning of the vid are heinous.
Mac Miller – Death of the Emcee
Our friend Zeke just passed along this Mac Miller cut that will be included on Mr. Peter Parker and Whoo Kid’s upcoming Frat Rap mixtape, dropping on the 2nd. Frat Rap features records from T Mills, FlyRydaz, Sam Adams, G Beck, KidDricc, Huey Mack and more. I, for one, hate the classification of “frat rap.” Let the kids just make their music. Songwriter Wants Royalty Payments for B.o.B.’s “Airplanes”
B.O.B.’s hit single Airplanes is the subject of a lawsuit from a songwriter who claims she helped write the track but failed to receive a credit.
Songwriter Christine Dominguez has now filed suit against the song’s producers, Jeremy Dussolliet and Tim Sommers, who work under the names Kinetics and One Love, suggesting she contributed to the song but was not given any recognition.
She filed papers in court in New York on 23 January (12) alleging Dussolliet and Sommers asked her to help create the melody for Airplanes but cut her out of subsequent royalty payments.
